How to Measure Your Dog
Dogs are animals that come in the widest variety of shapes, sizes, breeds and more. Measurements and weight are just the beginning to getting the right size for your dog. Please read below for information on how to properly measure your dog.
** If your dog has lots of hair or is very fluffy please take that into consideration and add 1 to 1.5" inches to the chest girth measurement

Measuring Your Dog for a Harness
Chest Girth: Measure directly behind the front legs for the chest measurement. Do not measure the widest part of the chest or in the middle of the body length. Measure directly behind the front two legs this is the most important.
** If your dog has lots of hair or is very fluffy please take that into consideration and add 1 inch to the chest girth measurement
Neck Girth: Measure the base of the neck for the neck measurement. Do not measure where the collar would sit or high up on the neck. Measure where you think the harness would start on the neck.
Weight: Take the weight of your dog. This will also aid in helping you gage where your dog stands in terms of sizing in comparison to other dogs out there.
Take these three measurements (neck, chest, and size) and take a look at the size chart. Please choose a size that you think your dog will best fit depending on all three factors.
Measuring your dog for clothing
See how to measure for a harness. Do as so. If length is required measure from the end of the neck on the back to where that tail starts (on the back of the dog)
** If your dog has lots of hair or is very fluffy please take that into consideration and add 1 to the chest girth measurement
Measuring your dog for a Collar
To measure for a collar measure your dog's neck with a soft rule where you would want the collar to rest. Place two fingers stacked flat between the soft rule and your dog's neck and measure to insure a comfortable nice fit for your dog.
Measuring dog for a belly band
Measure around directly in front of the back legs.
Different Size Chart for Every Brand and Designer
Most people think their dog is much smaller than it actually is and every dog brand and dog designer has their own size chart and their own rules. Please be sure to look at the correlating size chart to each harness. A size small in one brand can be for a 4 pound dog whereas a size small in another brand will be for an 8 pound dog. Every designer size chart is different so please double check.
